We started in the Beach Blanket Buffet Line but didn't find much that appealed to any of us. So we headed outside to a table near the pool so we could get some quick service. I had a tray with some food from Beach Blanket, drinks and chicken fingers/fries for the girls when I walked by the pool side store and saw the "elusive" Alaska Mickey Mouse. So I stopped while juggling all the trays to buy Mickey while I saw him.
Tracy Arm was so beautiful.
After lunch we moved up to Deck 10 to try to get some better views
James found a few chairs and soon we had our first glimpse of the glacier
Megan settled in and was comfy - Alice was unimpressed. :)
Soon we saw our first seals on the ice which perked Alice up a little. She liked looking for the seals. But we soon checked the kids kids into base camp at the sports deck on Deck 10. (I should say Megan was adamant at first that she didn't want to go to Base Camp. Ha Ha Ha. I couldn't get her to leave later in the day)
I loved the icebergs. It was amazing how different they looked from one side to the other. We had fun determining the shapes of the bergs (like cloud watching I suppose)
And then we got close Sawyer Glacier. Wow - pictures do not do the size and color and scope of the glacier justice.
Unfortunately we turned to the port side and not the starboard side, so we had to move to get better views. James and I did manage a picture of the two of us in front of the glacier however.
Mom and Dad went back to the room to watch for a bit.
We watched the Glacier for a while and then we went to check on the girls in Base camp and we were able to get some pictures of the girls playing.. They were having so much fun and didn't want to leave. The did some crafts, they played in a pop up igloo, they pulled each other around like dog sleds on blankets. They ran around and I don't think they looked at the scenery once. :)
So we went down to deck 4 where we watched the camera crew out in one of the life boats taking pictures of the ship with the glacier in the background. We were also able to watch the crew try to pick up a piece of Glacier Ice. The difference in perspective being closer to the ice on deck 4 was amazing.
James went back to the room and I went up to try to get the girls to leave Base Camp. They still didn't want to leave, so I negotiated another 15 minutes with them so we would be able to get to the tea party on time. Besides, camp was going to close at 4pm anyway (it was now 3:30 ish I think)
This was one of my favorite icebergs. It reminded me of a pheonix.
I went downstairs because wanted to get some pictures of the glacier with the portholes on deck 3.
And then I got to watch them break off part of the ice so it would fit in the elevator.
I was finally able to convince the girls to leave base camp. They got so warm running around in base camp they pulled off all their layers (yes my daughter is in front of the glacier in short sleeves - I think she is nuts). I convinced them to take a picture in front of the Glacier but they really didn't want to stop playing for this.
On our way downstairs we stopped on deck 9 to find the glacier ice piece. They thought the glacier ice was really neat to touch (Alice tried to eat it - I can't image that was clean).
It was almost 4pm and we had tickets for Tea With Disney Friends so we went down to Studio Sea for our Tea Party.
Rapunzel and Tiana joined us for tea. After having attended Tea with Alice twice on the Magic I was not as impressed with Disney Friends Tea Party. It just seemed forced and definitely not as fun and crazy
Knowing they only have apple juice we stopped and brought our own hot chocolate with us this time.
I love the chocolate chip cookies. They really need to make them easier to get to on the ship.
Mom and Dad joined us for tea as well. (James decided to skip it - I have no idea what he did other than warm up and rest)
The girls had to go see how much ice was still left after tea (there was not a noticeable difference in the size :) )
It was now time to change for dinner and then come down to try to get some pictures with the characters in their Alaska gear.
I had to get Donald to sign my picture here.
I amazingly didn't have to change Alice after dinner tonight but I did have to run back to the room for something. Here is our Elephant for the day
After Dinner I took the girls to the club for something?????
While they were there since I was able to find the Alaska Mickey earlier in the day I went down to the shore and picked up Minnie, Donald and Goofy. I gave the girls Mickey and Minnie to take pictures with them that evening.
We picked the girls up and got a great family picture with Mickey and Minnie.
After Mickey and Minnie, Alice wanted to go back to the club and hang out with Peter Pan for a bit and Megan wanted to go back to the room and watch a movie with daddy. I'm pretty sure I just explored the ship and maybe watched a few highlights on Sports Center in Diversions.
I'm going to finish our Tracy Arm day with this picture my mom took. I'm not sure where she took it, but it reminds me of the Simba drawing done by Rafiki in the Lion King.
Next up Day 6 - Skagway - White Pass Railroad and Liarsville
